Comparison Essay

Comparison Essay

When people go through struggles they often have another with a very similar situation. This works with two people/dog. Buck and Kesha are two great examples of life pain. They express it though, in very different ways. They each express a physical pain and Kesha goes a little deeper and talks about an inner pain. A battle with herself some might say. They both are abused and mistreated. How it happens can be a different thing but they are feeling external pain for sure.

When these two both are feeling pain, I can’t help but wonder, what is similar about their situation? Besides the fact that they were abused, I’m going to go a bit deeper into each of their situation. Buck was obviously abused in many ways being beat, mistreated, put in harsh conditions, and overall, uncared for. But for Kesha it is a little more hidden. It is in a song, so it’s a little more cryptic. In the song it makes it obvious she got played and had her heartstrings pulled by a guy and even hints at physical abuse as well. That’s a pretty similar situation, uncared for and beaten.

And as I wonder about how similar these two are, I also think, what is different about Kesha and Bucks situation. Well first, I could say that Kesha problems come from emotions more than physical while buck is the exact opposite. Kesha has some internal pain as well, when shown in the song: I was nothing without you, I had to learn how to fight for myself. It shows she has internal conflict for herself whereas, Buck, does not. He might have some, after all, he did kill someone, but the book never states it so it must be treated as if Buck does not have any at all.

After a comparison of the two, I can really say that their problems are real. I would actually recommend therapy or something of the sort. While the cases both have their different points, it boils down to two people (but one dog) have very hard struggles and seem to be doing pretty well with the curveballs life throws at them. It goes to show, for most people at least, that you can pull yourself out of any situation that life throws at you. You are stronger than you think so go out there, let life throw things at you, you will be there to catch it out of the sky and show life that you can take it. Don’t be afraid.

Call of the Wild with connections Essay

The Call of the Wild with connections by Jack London is about a dog named Buck and his problems and struggles throughout life and the journey it takes to get through and persevere despite his trouble and however great it may be. He is constantly battling others for leadership and proving himself as a dog to everyone around him. In a short lesson Buck displays leadership and never gave up in the face of danger or struggle.

At the start of this excellent book Buck is shown to have struggles in almost every turn. He is thrown into situations without any warning. It’s not just at the beginning of this book it’s all throughout this book, but for one example he is taken from his home (judge millers place) right within the first few pages. At first he is a little nervous, maybe even scared. He thinks for a while, overcomes his fear and tries to find a way out. He doesn’t succeed but it was the fact that he persisted and as well, when he was getting beaten he never went down. Yet again, he lost but he was up an at it, always swinging until he was struck down. He would always persist and Buck would be up an at it the very next day coming out swinging. He would never stop fighting no matter what was thrown at him. He never let him get his spirits down and would fight to the end.

By the time you get to the middle of the story the theme yet again proves itself time and time again. When Buck has troubles do you think that he just gave up? Do you? Well he didn’t. when he was pawned of to yet another man Francois, and Perrault two sled dog owners. He still kept fighting throughout it all and tried to be the best sled dog that he possibly could. When he decided that leadership in the pack needed to change and he was simply overpowered by Spitz he didn’t give up and in the end he killed him. If that’s not persistence I don’t know what is.

This is all and well but some might argue that Buck has to be persistent because if he’s not nothing will be changed and he has to survive. While some might think that makes sense it most certainly does not. Buck  keeps fighting during a cruel beating by the man in the red sweater while it would have ended with a lot less pain and a lot less broken bones if he had just stopped fighting. Yet again, while he is going up against Spitz he could have just given up and let Spitz have control of the pack, but once Buck was in, he didn’t stop, in the end he ended up killing Spitz. And that didn’t go without loss. So think what you like, but that idea just doesn’t plug in.

Now that were heading towards the end of the book after Buck pulls through and kills Spitz he should just naturally assume leadership from there, and  his problems would finally end. Right? Wrong, once he kills Spitz, Francois and Perrault make a different dog leader and Buck is just not having that. He fights the two sled dog owners to give him leader ship. They fight for a whole hour until Buck wears them out. They give in and let Buck have his leadership, but when they do that, they realize they are a whole hour late from when they needed to go. Buck takes lead and pulls the team of sled dogs together. They make up the hour they lost under Bucks leadership and arrives with even more time to spare. That’s what I call leadership.

in the end that’s what I call leadership. I know Buck is just a dog but to be honest he is kind of a role model for many of us.(Besides murder. Don’t do that. Even if you are fighting over leadership. If they are in your house or something that’s a different story. But you know what I mean.) He never gave up even when the risk was greater than the reward. He can show many people that quitting is just not the right way. If you pull through, even if you fail, it’s better to try and fail than to just give up. I think that was the main theme of this story that Jack London was trying to show us with his book. I also think that anybody who reads it will benefit from it in some way or another. It is a great read and will recommend it to anyone.

introduction to call of the wild

so, this is about a dog that gets kidnapped into a car and driven away from his owners to someplace. when he arrives he growls and barks at everyone. the kidnappers don’t like this. they beat him upside the head over and over countless times with a club until he passes out. once he wakes up they sell him to this weird dude. this takes place in a warehouse full of other beat up dogs.its different from where i live because we don’t beat up dogs where i live.

the main problem buck (the dog) has is that he just got beat up. he is away from his owners and going away with this strange man.so that is the only problem that i have seen so far. there will be more if i read more.specific influences to buck would be the club that hit him in the head.the characters is different from me because, im not a dog.

School Schedule

Student’s grades are failing, Kids are sleeping in class. Seemingly irresponsible kids are roaming our student’s halls. For FWCS middle schools, there is an underlying problem for everyone…. The school schedule. For years it has gone unattended, unchecked, but now it has gone too far.

Results of the school schedule seemed to have nothing to do with scores and results, but not anymore. Studies show that early school hours causes “poor academic performance and a serious health concern.” A technical report also shows that sleep-deprived teens tend to eat more carbs and fats, with every hour of sleep that is lost increasing the odds of obesity by 80%. The article on the internet also states that, quote “Adolescents that go to sleep at midnight or later are also likely to suffer from depression or suicidal thoughts.”

Students need at least 8-9 hours of sleep. A current middle school student wishes he could go to sleep 9-10 hours but due to the school schedule he only gets less than 8 a day. If the hours change he said he would have more energy and a more positive outlook for school and would most likely get better grades. In my opinion sleep is way more important than a hearty breakfast. Why are our school systems worried about free breakfasts when were too exhausted to even pick them up?

Main thing is, if you are complaining about classroom results, don’t point your finger at the students, especially if it’s first period, due to their tiredness and lack of focus that is from that. It would be very beneficial for a change to occur and if they need more busses, why is the tax money going to a roundabout that isn’t a must have, and focus more on the schools. Take care of our students. They are our future. Fantastic sleep reflects good grades. Just give it a chance.

this gosh darn shcool schedule (rough draft)

Save The Students

Today at around 7:30 a.m. this morning, the tragedy of the century happened. No, not Hurricane Harvey, no, not nukes from North Korea. it is so much more worse than that. Blackhawks own, Mrs. Oaks has just made a horrifying announcement. The students at Blackhawk Middle must wear uniforms after labor day. Oh the pity I have on these poor students. The tragedy.

The colors are so drab and ugly, claiming the students will “save money” just after the parents/guardians of the students spent their hard earned money on back to school clothes! An outrage, what has Blackhawk come to.

What is Blackhawk trying to accomplish here? They have left all of us at the daily miller, confused and wondering. Here it is, this horror has been caused by, quote “all the other schools are starting to do it.” Blackhawk, being the school icon that they are should be examples and leaders, not followers. Big disapointment from FWCS here.

As our thoughts and prayers go out to the students at Blackhawk, I want you all to know the suffering of others, and just a little donation to the students against uniforms foundation, just 36 cents a day can make a big difference to a student at Blackhawk. raise awareness and read more.
